Wayne Carlson, Associate Head of Department - Tourism and Events

Wayne has held a range of high profile roles that included General Management roles leading marketing teams of up to 25 professionals and investing marketing budgets in excess of $21 million. In addition, he has held an executive role with responsibility for award winning tourism products, a workforce of more than 400 and the global launch of a new $139 million product. He has negotiated and managed marketing partnerships with global brands such as Coca Cola, Qantas, Chrysler, Discovery Channel, Heinz, Cadbury etc in up to twenty two countries. Wayne has worked extensively with tourism wholesalers and retailers in market across North America, Europe and Asia, developing strong relationships and doubling international revenue.

Wayne has managed the delivery of a wide range of events including international sporting events, rock concerts, arts and cultural events, business expos and an annual Christmas festival attracting over 350,000 people. His work has been recognised by the industry having won Brisbane Art Directors awards for creativity; CREAM awards for advertising effectiveness; Australian Marketing Institute awards for strategy; and a range of tourism and event awards. Most recently, Wayne managed the project that redefined the brand architecture and tourism marketing strategy for Queensland. Wayne is an active contributor to the industry including having previously served as president and board member of Australian Sponsorship Marketing Association, member of the state government Master Media Committee, and the last four years as a member of the national Tourism Research Committee.

Wayne holds a Bachelor of Business and a Graduate Certificate in Management.

Heddy Macaulay, Associate Head of Department - Business and Management

Heddy is an experienced general manager who has served as a member of multiple executive teams over the past 15 years. After formally qualifying within education, Heddy has gone onto to complete post graduate qualifications in business and management. Heddy has spent the majority of her career working for sector leaders where she was responsible for leading teams of up to 25 people across multiple functions.

Heddy holds a Bachelor in Professional Education, Certificate in Education, Certificate in Internal Moderation, Grad. Diploma of Management (Education) and is finalising her MBA. Having qualified within vocational education in 1986, at Chichester College, and higher education at Falmer University, Sussex. She received the title of Advanced Practitioner by Chichester College, and was identified as an exceptional mentor in supporting lecturers. Consulting with examination boards Heddy worked on quality curriculum, assurance systems, and external moderation for City and Guilds, UK. 

Her teaching career spans two decades, previously teaching within both Higher and Vocational Education in the UK and Australia. Her work within education has been recognised by the education industry having won the Edupreneur award 2015 for Education Innovation. She serves on the board of ASWELL (Australasian Wellness Association) and is a Board Director of CIDESCO (Comite International d’Esthetique et de Cosmetologie – Australia).

Dr Mark Kissane

Mark Kissane has worked in higher education in Australia for over 30 years. He has extensive experience in the development of educational content for higher education as well as the management and development of teaching and learning strategies and assessment and evaluation programs for classroom and online learning.  

Mark has been a senior lecturer in design at the College of Fine Arts at the University of New South Wales and a lecturer in design at the Sydney College of the Arts and School of Design at the University of Technology, Sydney. He was senior academic in charge of design computing at UNSW managing curriculum and academic delivery for the Bachelors program in design.

Mark holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Research) in Education from the University of New South Wales, a Masters of Higher Education from the University of New South Wales, a Masters of Design (Research) from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a Bachelor of Sciences from Illinois State University in the USA.

Raleigh Wallace - National Careers Service Manager

As a career development professional Raleigh has spent the last 15 years working in educational institutions in the higher education sector. Raleigh has a passion for empowering students to strive for the best and most relevant employment opportunities that align with their future career goals.

In his Careers Service Manager roles at CQUniversity, Endeavour College of Natural Health and Martin Higher Education Raleigh has ensured that students have access to contemporary resources to assist them raise their self-awareness, plan their future career path and transition to employment successfully. A key focus of Raleigh’s higher education career has been his involvement in work integrated learning (WIL). This includes hosting WIL Industry/Lecturer forums, conducting institution wide WIL Project Reviews while also being heavily involved in subject creation, lecturing, sourcing placements, site visits and assessments for student placement subjects in business, information technology, social work, teaching, nursing and engineering.

Raleigh is a member of NAGCAS (National Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Service) and holds a Bachelor of Teaching and a Masters of Management (Human Resources). 

Anjilin Lata – Learning Technologies Coordinator

Anjilin has worked in the VET and Higher Education sector in Australia and abroad for over 17 years. She has extensive experience in the development of instructional and educational content for both VET and Higher Education courses and as well as coordinating Learning Management Systems, e-learning authoring tools and learning resources for a number of organizations in Australia.

Anjilin also has high level experience in teaching VET and Higher Education courses across Australia. She has taught at the Charles Darwin University as a Lecturer in the Tertiary Enabling Courses and as a Lecturer in Information Technology with UTS Insearch and a Lecturer in the Academic Pathway program with the Western Sydney University.

Anjilin holds a Master of Information Systems, Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Teaching & Learning and a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science & Information Systems).
